THE BIG STORY: Mangkhut is moving north slowly at 25km/h and has become a Super Typhoon at CAT5+ storm! TD27 has become a Tropical Storm and now been named Barijat moving at 14km/h.
PHILIPPINE weather is calm before the storm! High passing spin-off storms over Mindanao and Visayas. Expect more popup showers later today from convection and the sun's heating at random areas around the nation.
PREPARE NOW for Mangkhut, at CAT4 Strength that will pass by Northern Luzon and directly over the Batanes! The path has changed somewhat and moved a little closer to the Luzon shores. Try to be in a cement structure during the storm as it will be strong enough to take down buildings. Store extra water and food as power will go out for days. Have flashlights and a charged cell phone to use ONLY in emergencies!
